A troubled youth boarding school may be a suitable option for a teen struggling with alcohol abuse

By Staff Writer

A 17-year-old boy from Colorado Springs was recently arrested for reportedly vandalizing a church and a local high school early on a Sunday morning, ABC News reports. Police officials said the boy was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.

The student is facing felony criminal mischief and burglary charges, police told the news outlet.

When officers were called to the scene due to what witnesses described as a disturbance in the area, they said they found the boy breaking windows to enter the Lighthouse Baptist Church. The young student had severe cuts all over his arms, according to the news provider.

Police then followed a trail of the boy's blood to Doherty High School where they believe he vandalized the institution's interior.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, underage drinking is a major problem in the U.S. People between the ages of 12 and 20 drink about 11 percent of all the alcohol consumed in the country.

If parents believe their children are struggling with alcohol abuse, they may want to research a troubled youth boarding school. Many of these facilities have a staff that is trained to help teens with similar problems.
