Parents may need to intervene when their daughters date the wrong boys
By Staff Writer
Brittany Smith was hardly the young woman people would expect to end up in jail. However, two years ago, as she was ready to receive her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, she reportedly let her boyfriend manipulate her to the point where she is now facing murder and firearms charges, according to News One. Taking advantage of her Harvard connections, Smith's boyfriend, Jabrai Copney robbed Ivy League drug dealers, eventually shooting and killing one. The district attorney said that Smith was aware that her boyfriend was going to murder Justin Cosby, but did not do anything to stop him. The district attorney also believes that Smith hid the murder weapon and Copney's blood-stained clothes in a friends room, the news provider reports. Spending time with the wrong partner can lead to other problems for many teenage girls. For example, the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that about one in three teens has experienced some sort of violence in a relationship. Parents who are worried that their daughters are dating young men who could get them into trouble may want to consider enrolling their children in schools for troubled youths.
