Teens abandon baby in front of church dumpster
By Staff Writer
Recently, two teens in Wisconsin found themselves in a situation that they were not mentally or emotionally ready to handle: the 17-year-old girl was pregnant, ABC News reports. For nine months the teen wore baggy clothes and convinced herself and others that she was not going to have a baby. At the beginning of May, the teen girl could no longer hide the truth, as she delivered her baby in the bathtub. Panicking, the student gave the infant to her 18-year-old boyfriend. The male was just as frightened and was afraid to bring the baby to the hospital for adoption, as his girlfriend was underage when the infant was conceived. Instead, the teen allegedly dropped the baby off next to a church dumpster. The infant was later found and taken to Child Protective Services. Police are recommending that the teens be charged with felony abandonment of a child. According to Pregnant Teen Help, 750,000 teens get pregnant every year, many of which are not ready to become parents. Adults who want to avoid allowing their teens to get into situations that they cannot handle may wish to enroll them in therapeutic schools.
