Teens arrested for injecting bath salts
By Staff Writer
A North Carolina teen and two other individuals are facing charges after authorities from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office caught them injecting a drug known as bath salts into their arms, WBTV reports. Phil Redmond, county sheriff, told the news outlet that deputies were called to perform a security check on a local home. When they arrived, they reportedly saw the young adults in the car in an attempt to leave the house. According to the deputies, there was drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The teen later told the deputies that he was injecting the drug into his arm. Authorities said he was impaired and seemed nervous. According to the Journal Review, bath salts look identical to the substance people put in their bathtubs, but are actually a dangerous hallucinogenic drug. They can be bought for about $50 on the internet in small containers the size of tea bags. Typically, the bags come with a warning that states "not for human consumption." Parents who believe that their teens are abusing drugs such as bath salts may want to consider enrolling them in schools for troubled youths. Staff at many of these facilities are trained to assist youths with drug addictions.
