Therapeutic schools can help those with video game addictions
By Staff Writer
Across the country, there are hundreds of examples of adults who have allowed their video game addictions to ruin their lives, News Now reports. Police recently had to remove six children from a home in Pennsylvania because their mother was too busy playing video games to take care of them or clean the home. A one-year old boy drowned in the bathtub in Denver because his mother was playing a game on Facebook instead of watching him, according to the news source. Ryan Van Cleve, author of Unplugged, told the news outlet that it is becoming increasingly common for adults to become completely consumed by video games. Consequences for this type of addiction are also becoming more severe. Currently, people are destroying their family lives, ruining their relationships and decimating their health, he said. People who struggle with gaming addiction are not only adults. According to the most recent Harris Poll, about 8.5 percent of children between the ages of 8 and 18 are video game addicts. Parents who want to end their children's video game addition, or prevent them from becoming addicts, may want to consider enrolling them in therapeutic schools.
