Two youths charged with killing a pregnant teenager

By Staff Writer

If teenagers are put in situations that they are not mentally or emotionally ready to handle, they may react with stress or outbursts of violence. Parents who want to better manage their youths during these times may want to consider enrolling them in a troubled youth boarding school.

Recently, 20-year-old Deandre Minkins of Illinois was put in a difficult situation when his 18-year-old girlfriend, Rosemary Newman, announced that she was pregnant. As he was not able to handle this, Minkins allegedly murdered Newman and left her dead in Cook County Forest Preserve, WGN TV reports.

Investigators said that Minkins took his girlfriend out to dinner one night as his friend, 19-year-old Shante Thomas, hid in their car. When the couple was driving home, Thomas began to choke the pregnant teenager. She was then reportedly beaten until she was unconscious. Minkins and Thomas then took her to the forest to strangle her.

Minkins and Thomas are being charged with murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child, the news provider states.

According to Pregnant Teen Help, about 750,000 teenagers must deal with the stress of youth pregnancy every year.
